SANAA, Jan. 18 (YPA) – The head of the National Committee for Prisoners’ Affairs in the Sanaa government, Abdulqader Al-Murtadha, expressed his optimism on a new progress that will be made in the prisoners’ file in the next few weeks.
Al-Murtadha tweeted: “Yesterday we had a meeting with Deputy UN Envoy Moeen Shreim in which we discussed ways to move on the prisoners’ file and work to push for the implementation of the recent agreement.”
He added: “We hope that the coming weeks will witness a real breakthrough in this humanitarian file.”
In late March, the Sanaa government reached an agreement with Saudi Arabia under the auspices of the United Nations to exchange 2,223 prisoners, including Saudi army and Sudanese forces.
