President Al-Mashat directs Awqaf to contribute to economic empowerment projects for poor

SANAA, Dec. 13 (YPA) – President of the Supreme Political Council, Mahdi Al-Mashat, on Monday directed the Awqaf Authority to contribute to economic empowerment projects for the poor and needy.

During his chairing a meeting with a number of the state leaders and officials, President Al-Mashat stressed the importance of developing endowment revenues and spending them on what was endowed for.

He explained that the benefits of the endowment are for the poor citizen, as the endower specified its outlays for the weak, the poor, the sick, travelers, dam building, wayfarers, and students.

President Al-Mashat considered preserving the endowment’s funds, assets, and property as a religious duty and responsibility for everyone.

At the meeting, President Al-Mashat ordered the formation of a central committee and sub-committees to survey and identify the lands and real estate of Awqaf that are in the hands of government agencies that benefit from it.
