Yemen has right to protect, impose its sovereignty over Bab al-Mandab Strait: Military Official

HODEIDA, Nov. 20 (YPA) – Yemen has the right to protection and sovereignty over the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait,” a commander of the Coastal Defense Forces of the Sanaa forces, Major General Mohammed al-Qadri.

He affirmed in a statement that the Yemeni navy has the full capacity to protect international corridors and trade routes in it, and to pull the rug out from under the forces of aggression.

“Invoking by the forces of aggression for security of international corridors are false excuses aimed to control Yemen’s geographical maritime location, and this will not be, due to growing the capabilities of the Yemeni naval forces,” al-Qadri said.

He emphasized that “the issue of controlling the Red Sea and the Bab al-Mandab Strait, along with the Gulf of Aden and the Arabian Sea, has become among the main motives for the aggression against Yemen.”

“The Yemeni naval forces possess today what qualifies them to have the final say in Yemeni territorial waters,” al-Qadri added.
