One of pro-coalition Taiz governor’s escorts assassinated in Aden
ADEN, Nov. 13 (YPA) – One of the escorts of Taiz province governor loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, Nabil Shamsan, was assassinated in mysterious circumstances inside a hotel in the port city of Aden, controlled by the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) militia.
Human rights and media sources reported on Saturday that workers of a hotel in Aden found the personal escort of the Taiz governor, Muhammad Faisal, hanging inside one of the hotel rooms, without mentioning reasons.
The sources confirmed that the workers found Faisal’s body two days after his assassination, amid a media cover-up to obliterate the crime, and record the incident as a “suicide.”
Faisal was accompanying the governor, Shamsan, who visited Aden few days ago, during which he met the prime minister of the pro-coalition government, Maeen Abdulmalik al-Wahsh, at the Ma’ashiq Palace, according to the sources.
This comes within the framework of the crisis that emerged between Shamsan and the governor of Aden, Ahmed Lamlas, who is affiliated with STC, against the background of the latter’s signing of an agreement to build houses on Mayoun Island, which belongs to Taiz province administratively.
In February 2021, Shamsan’s housel was stormed by the STC militia, who kidnapped the commander of the so-called “Military Police”, Jamil Aqlan, along with the governor’s personal driver for several hours.
