Five soldiers injured in clashes with tribesmen in Hadhramaut

HADHRAMAUT, Jul. 13 (YPA) – At least five soldiers loyal to the Saudi-led coalition, were wounded in clashes with tribal gunmen in Hadhramaut province, eastern Yemen.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on local sources.

According to the sources, the clashes broke out between the  forces of the first military region loyal to General Ali Mohsen al-Ahmar, and gunmen from Al Hamdhan tribe in the western city of Al-Qatn.

The fierce clashes, in which heavy and medium weapons were used, led to the injury  of five soldiers, in addition to causing damage to one military pickup vehicle, one of the sources said.

The causes of the clashes are still unknown; however, fighting came as a part the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC)’s militias’ plans in the province by pushing tribes to confront forces loyal to Mohsen in order to take control over the oil-rich Hadhramaut directorates, oil fields and the Masila Company, which produces quantities of crude oil.
