Complete power outage hits Yemen’s Mahra

MAHRA, June 21 (YPA) – Yemen’s eastern province of Mahra experienced a complete power outage across all districts due to the depletion of diesel fuel in the power plants, local sources reported on Friday.

The Mahra Electricity Corporation confirmed in a statement on Thursday that the crisis was caused by armed tribal groups blocking fuel tankers on the Marib-Hadramout road, which delayed the delivery of supplies.

The statement clarified that efforts are underway to secure fuel and restore power at the plants as soon as possible, as the outage has exacerbated the suffering of residents due to rising temperatures.

It is worth noting that the Al-Awashan tribes had blocked the passage of gas and fuel tankers last Sunday in the Ghuwayrban area of Al-Thaniya to demand the release of one of their tribesmen detained in a prison in Mahra province.
