At least 10,200 Yemeni children killed, injured in Yemen war: UNICEF

SANAA, March 13 (YPA) – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced that it had documented the killing and wounding of at least 10,200 Yemeni children over 7 year-old war on Yemen.

According to a statement issued by the organization’s representative in Yemen, Philippe Duamelle, “at least 10,200 children have been killed and injured since Saudi-led coalition invasion on March 25, 2015, as well as in the first two months of this year in several areas, in an investigation made by the UN.

“Reports indicate that at least 47 children have been killed or injured during the first two months of this year in several areas in Yemen,” it added.

UNICEF called on all parties to the conflict and those who could influence them to protect civilians wherever they are, stressing that the safety and well-being of children must be preserved and their protection guaranteed at all times.

The organization added: “It is time for a sustainable political solution so that Yemenis and their children can live in the peace they deserve,” after violence, misery and grief have become commonplace in Yemen with devastating consequences for millions of children and families.”
