Angry protests block main roads in Aden

ADEN, March 13 (YPA) – Angry protesters blocked main streets and roads in Yemen’s southern port city of Aden on Saturday’s night , in a protest against lack of domestic gas.

This was reported by Yemen News Portal, based on the testimonies of local sources.

According to local sources, presidents protesting over the lack of domestic gas closed the main highway to the Aden international airport in an escalating move that could push the crisis-hit city toward a new revolution.

The protesters in Khor Maksar district put hundreds of gas cylinders on the road, disrupting traffic to and from the airport.

The move coincided with evening demonstrations in Aden’s city, particularly in Sheikh Othman, where dozens of people came out demanding the departure of both the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC) and Hadi’s government.

These developments come amid complete paralysis in daily life in the city, which suffers from fuel shortages, especially gasoline and cooking gas. The  Prices of gas and oil in the black market  have reached  highest levels .

The crisis has worsened as the conflict between the government and the STC’s  authority intensified over revenues in a city that is being controlled by UAE-backed factions and Aden port is the only port that is receiving  ships.
