Al-Murtada: Saudi regime is safe from legal prosecution, so it commits crimes against captives

SANAA, March 13 (YPA) – Head of the National Committee for Prisoners Affairs in Sanaa, Abdulqadir Al-Murtada, on Sunday said the crime of the Saudi regime against the captives is a very serious precedent and a crime that violates all laws and customs.

“We were surprised by the Saudi regime’s execution yesterday of two of our prisoners on the Jizan front,” Al-Murtada said in a press statement. He pointed out that the two captives were among the negotiation list that was submitted to the United Nations some time ago.

Al-Murtada affirmed that the crime of executing the two prisoners is a disregard for the United Nations, which is sponsoring the current negotiations with the Saudi regime.

He continued: “Since yesterday, we have been in contact with the United Nations, and we have asked them to respond and express their position on the heinous crime. We hope that there will be a position for the United Nations towards the crime of executing the two prisoners.”

Head of the National Committee for Prisoners Affairs stressed that the crime confirmed the tyranny of the Riyadh regime, and the timing of the crime came with the world’s preoccupation with the events of Ukraine.

He continued, “The Saudi regime is not keen on its prisoners in our custody, otherwise it would not have committed the crime of executing the two prisoners.”

Al-Murtada also confirmed that Sanaa had expressed its readiness for a comprehensive prisoner exchange process.
