Tehran intents to appoint new ambassador to Yemen
TEHRAN, Dec. 27 (YPA) – The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday revealed the country’s intention to appoint a new ambassador to Yemen.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh said, in a press conference, “There are arrangements to reappoint a new ambassador to Sanaa to succeed the late ambassador, Hassan Erlo, who died as from his infection with Covid-19 virus.”
Khatibzadeh indicated that the appointment of the new ambassador aims to find a sustainable solution in Yemen, calling for focusing on the political solution.
He expressed his country’s desire to hold a fifth round of negotiations with Saudi Arabia in the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, considering dialogue the best method for resolving differences between the two countries.
The spokesman revealed that Tehran has submitted proposals to Saudi Arabia and is awaiting a response on them.
