ADEN, Oct. 06 (YPA) – Thousands of fish have died in a pollution spill in the coast of Al-Haswa in Al-Buraiqeh district, west of Aden, southern Yemen.
Academics at Faculty of Science at the University of Aden attributed the phenomenon to marine pollution that led to the death of large quantities of fish.
They said that an oil spill from the dilapidated ships arriving at the oil port probably caused the death of fish.
They also warned of the effects of repeated fish deaths on fish stocks and the degradation of fish habitats due to pollution of the sea.
The death of fish in Aden has escalated in recent years due to pollution caused by the dumping of toxic waste by Saudi-led coalition ships and repeated oil spills, most recently in mid-July, when a fuel ship belonging to oil tigers Ahmed al-Essi sank off the coast of Aden.
