SANAA, Jun. 29 (YPA) – The Specialized Criminal Court of First Instance in the Capital Sanaa on Tuesday sentenced the murderer of Professor Ahmed Sharaf Al-Din to death, and the execution of the sentence in a public square.
The verdict, issued in the court hearing headed by Judge Mohammed Mufleh, stipulated the conviction of the emir of Al-Qaeda cell in Sanaa called Majdi Abdulkarim Al-Mutawakel, 32, of what was attributed to him in the public lawsuit, and punishing him with execution for committing the crime of killing Professor Ahmed Abdulrahman Sharaf Al-Din, Fathi Mohammed Al-Maamari, Sultan Abdulquddus Al-Mahbashi, Ali Zaid Al-Thari, Ali Al-Sharafi and Khaled Al-Khawlani.
The Criminal Prosecution had charged the convict, Majdi Abdulkarim Al-Mutawakel, with charges of participating during the period from January 2011 to March 2015 in the armed Al-Qaeda gang to carry out acts of murder, bombing and looting.
