Israeli army re-closes Palestinian village in West Bank

SANAA, May 23 (YPA) – The Israeli army closed on Saturday a Palestinian village in the center of the occupied West Bank for the second time within days.

“The Israeli army closed the entrance to the village of Deir Nizam al-President, west of Ramallah (in the center), with dirt mounds, and deprived citizens of movement and exit from it,” said the Secretary of the “Fatah” movement in the village of Deir Nizam Qusay Al-Tamimi.

He added that the army had closed the entrance a few days ago, but the young men opened it, on Friday, with simple equipment.

Al-Tamimi explained that the army “put earth mounds on the road to entering the village, but this time closer to the bypass road through which settlers and army vehicles pass, so that the youths would be afraid to approach it and open it again.”

He pointed out that “they are left with nothing but the rugged mountain road, which not all vehicles can use, and the army imposes tight control on it.”

The Israeli army usually closes the entrances to Palestinian villages and imposes a policy of collective punishment on them, claiming Palestinian youths throw stones at settler and army cars.
