Moscow: It doesn’t require Security Council resolution, if Washington returns to “Iran deal”

SANAA, April 19 (YPA) – The Russian Foreign Ministry has said that if the United States returns to the Iran nuclear deal, it does not require a separate UN Security Council resolution.

“Was there a separate decision when they withdrew? This means that Resolution 2231 is still in force and will remain in force.”

Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadehsaid at his weekly press conference: “The Vienna talks are progressing and are on track, but that does not mean a final agreement between the parties,” adding that “raising uranium enrichment to 60 percent is the appropriate response to the Natanz complex attack.”

He stressed that his country will not sign any agreement other than the current nuclear agreement signed in 2015, adding at the same time that “the presence of the US delegation in Vienna is positive and shows the US understanding of the principles and foundations of a return to the nuclear agreement.”

The 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (NUCLEAR DEAL), concluded by the six countries (Britain, Germany, China, Russia, the United States and France), and Iran, aimed at lifting sanctions in exchange for limiting Iran’s nuclear program as a guarantee of Tehran’s lack of nuclear weapons.
