Int’l campaign discloses torture in UAE prisons

SANAA, Jan. 29 (YPA) – The International Campaign To Boycott UAE announced on Monday a wide scale media campaign against torture in prisons of the United Arab Emirates.

“The UAE uses repressive torture methods, in an explicit violation of the Geneva Convention and the International Protocol against Torture,” the campaign said.

The campaign, which is titled ” Global Week Against Torture in UAE”, aimed to reveal the crimes committed by Abu Dhabi against political and civilian detainees inside and outside of the state prisons.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights (UNHCHR) has confirmed that the UAE continues torture operations, enforced disappearances and imprisonment in secret detention centers.
