MARIB, March 08 (YPA) – Fierce battles took place northwest of Marib city on Monday morning between the Yemeni army forces backed by the popular committees and the Saudi-led coalition forces, sources reported.
The Yemeni army forces and the popular committees launched a major military attack during the past hours towards the sites of the coalition forces and al-Qaeda militants in the areas separating Al-Tala’a Al-Hamra area and Al-Balq mountains, the sources said.
The sources indicated that the coalition forces withdrew, in two batches, all their recruits from the outskirts of the Al-Balq mountain through “Hesn Al-Sadd” area to reinforce their collapsed forces in the Al-Tala’a Al-Hamra’a.
Sanaa’s forces managed, through their military offensive, to impose full control on the sub-road linking the Al-Tala Al-Hamra area and Al-Balq mountain, which was created by the coalition forces in 2015, the sources explained.
The sources added that Sana’a forces managed to control two of the largest weapons depots of the coalition forces, west of the Al-Tala Al-Hamra front.
The coalition forces, for the first time, used Katyusha rockets from their position in ‘Al-Khashiba’ mountain towards the Al-Tala Al-Hamra front, according to the sources.
