Britain closes primary schools due to spread of Corona

SANAA, Jun. 2 (YPA) – The Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, said on Friday that the British government decided to close all primary schools in the capital for the next two weeks, to counter the rapid spread of a more contagious strain of the Corona virus.
On Wednesday, Education Minister Gavin Williamson unveiled a plan to postpone the reopening of secondary schools, and to open most primary schools for children under 11 years of age at the time scheduled next week at the end of the Christmas holiday, according to Reuters.
According to the plan, it was decided to close primary schools only in the most affected areas of the country, including some parts of London.
However, local authorities in a number of areas where primary schools have been scheduled to open have complained.
“The government finally realized the logic and changed its decision,” the mayor of London said on his Twitter account.
“All primary schools across London will receive the same treatment,” Khan added.
