WASHINGTON, July 01 (YPA) – A group of peace advocates and veterans in the United States on Monday ended a 40-day hunger strike in front of the US Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York in solidarity with Gaza.
On the final day of the strike, they marched from in front of the US Permanent Mission to the United Nations toward the Israeli Consulate in New York, waving banners in support of Palestine.
The group continued their demonstration in front of the Israeli consulate, chanting slogans such as “Freedom for Palestine,” “Long live the Palestinian resistance,” and “No to supporting Israel.”
Police arrested about 20 people for obstructing traffic as part of security measures in the area.
The strike began on May 20, committing to consuming fewer than 250 calories per day.
