SANAA,Sept. 10 (YPA) – Diplomatic sources revealed that the Palestine Liberation Organization threatened two days ago to withdraw from the Arab League.
The sources pointed out that the Palestinian Authority submitted to the Arab League a draft resolution condemning the Israeli-Emirati agreement, as the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Egypt, Jordan, Morocco and Sudan rejected the Palestinian project.
The diplomatic sources reported that the UAE had submitted an alternative project and had the approval of the same countries that rejected the Palestinian project, while Somalia and the Hadi government rejected the project, and Lebanon, Iraq, Algeria and Tunisia took a position of neutrality regarding the Emirati draft resolution.
The Secretary of the PLO, Saeb Erekat, threatened that Palestine would withdraw from the Arab League if it adopted the Emirati project, as Erekat’s threat came during his contact with the foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
The sources noted that the Emirati project was withdrawn and Egypt, Jordan and Saudi Arabia pledged to issue a statement based on the Palestinian project, while no statement was issued based on the Palestinian project in accordance with the Egyptian-Jordanian-Saudi pledge.
