ABU DHABI, Aug. 16 (YPA) – The phone service between the UAE and Israel began Sunday to work, with the announcement of the normalization of relations between the two countries, according to the “Associated Press” Agency.
The agency’s journalists in Quds and Dubai were able to contact each other from landlines and cell phones on Sunday.
Officials of the two countries did not comment on the news.
Telecommunications between the UAE and Israel have been always prohibited, as customers who wished to call Israel would send a message in Arabic and English stating that calls could not be delivered to the country code +972.
The opening of the telephone service between the two countries is the first tangible sign of the normalization agreement between the Emiratis and the Israelis.
