Hadramout Tribal Alliance rejects smuggle crude oil by Aden government

HADRMOUT, July 13 (YPA) – Hadramout Tribal Alliance declared on Sunday its rejection of the smuggling of crude oil by the coalition-backed Aden government through the port of Dhabba on the Arabian Sea.

In a statement on Facebook, the Alliance affirmed that it would not allow the continued corruption of the government in Hadramout and the embezzlement of its resources through the smuggling of oil.

The statement indicated that the alliance was committed to defending Hadramout and its rights without compromise. “If the government insists on smuggling oil, the alliance will be forced to cut off the supply of crude oil to the power plant in Aden.”

It affirmed that the worsening collapse of living conditions and services, along with the local currency’s continued loss of purchasing power, portended a comprehensive catastrophe.

The statement attributed the continued economic and service collapse to the rampant corruption and the failure of the government and the “Presidential Leadership Council” to administer the coalition-controlled areas.

It pointed out that the Alliance had adopted “autonomy” to protect the province from the plunder of its resources, thereby imposing practical steps on the ground.

October 2022, the Sanaa-based government had halted the export of crude oil through the ports of Dabbah in Hadramout and Nashima in Shabwa, by carrying out military operations.

The government considered the crude oil a sovereign wealth owned by the Yemeni people, whose revenues were solely those of leaders loyal to the coalition.
