Palestinian prisoners start hunger strike in Israeli jails

SANAA, April 7 (YPA) – Palestinian prisoners ‘ leadership in Israeli occupation jails on Sunday began an open hunger strike to protest against continued repression, attacks on prisoners and deteriorating living conditions in prisons.

According to the “Palestine Now ” News Agency, over 30 prisoners would take part in the first stage of the strike  “second dignity strike”, the majority of whom are the leaders of the resistance factions, especially the movement  “Hamas”, including the captive leader Abbas al-Sayed.

The strike will later be joined by dozens of prisoners from various prisons, where the strikes are expected to evolve into a lack of water, if dialogue sessions fail to extract the rights of prisoners they demand before the seventeenth of this month.

The move coincides with the day of the prisoner and expects hundreds of prisoners to join the strike.

The captive movement called on the Palestinian factions and the public to support their strike, asking everyone to show responsibility in the media.

Palestinian prisoners demanded to improve their living conditions, to stop the escalation of occupation against them, and to remove jamming devices on mobile phones, which cause headache and ear pains.
