MOSCOW: US is moving troops, military vehicles to Venezuela

SANAA, Feb. 23 (YPA) – Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Friday that the United States is moving special military forces and mechanisms to Venezuela,

“Washington is preparing a provocation and is doing so in accordance with all the rules of military science,” Zakharova said at a press conference at the State Department.

“It was noted that the transfer of US special forces and mechanisms to the territory adjacent to the Venezuelan state,” she added.

Venezuela’s political crisis has escalated, especially after Venezuelan opposition speaker Juan Guido declared himself president of the country for a transitional period and holding new presidential elections. While the United States rushed to recognize the demand of Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro, not to use violence against the opposition.

For his part, Maduro declared that he is the legitimate president of the country, describing the speaker of parliament and the opposition as “puppet in the hands of the United States.”

France, Germany, Spain, Britain and the Netherlands officially recognized the leader of the Venezuelan opposition as president until elections are held, while Russia, China, Turkey, Mexico and Bolivia supported Maduro’s legitimacy.

Russia, China and many other countries supported Nicolas Maduro as the legitimate president of Venezuela.
