SANAA, March 26 (YPA) – The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) on Monday called on the international community to provide more than $350 million relief for children in Yemen, saying the current aid is not enough.
The call came during a press conference held in Amman by UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, Geert Cappelaere.
He added that, the UNICEF wants $201 million is a very small amount compared to the humanitarian tragedy suffered by the Yemeni people.
“The three-year war in Yemen has killed thousands of children and seriously injured thousand others,” the UN official said.
The organization said more than 11 million children in Yemen need to urgent humanitarian assistance, and 1.8 million others severe suffer from malnourished, including some 400,000 children are at risk of starvation.
