SANAA, Feb. 5 (YPA) – The new head of UN monitoring team in Yemen, Danish officer Michael Lollesgaard on Tuesday arrived in Sanaa After being appointed successor to Dutch general Patrick Cammert.
The appointment of Lollesgaard was proposed by UN Secretary-General Antonio Gutierrez on 28 January and none of the 15 Security Council members objected to this appointment.
The new envoy of the United States led the UN mission in Mali between 2015 and 2016, before becoming NATO’s military representative in NATO and the European Union.
Lollesgaard was born in 1960, was a military adviser to his country at the United Nations in New York and served in peacekeeping missions in Iraq and Bosnia.
