OCCUPIED PALESTINE, Aug. 24 (YPA) – The Israeli occupation forces reported that 78 officers and soldiers have been killed by friendly fire or operational mishaps since the beginning of the war on Gaza, while another 1,998 have been wounded.
In total, 899 troops have been killed since the start of the war, including 455 during the ground offensive in Gaza. The overall number of wounded has reached 6,210, with 925 in serious condition.
During the ground invasion alone, 2,880 soldiers were injured, 552 of them seriously.
The Israeli military confirmed on Saturday that an officer was killed in southern Khan Younis in the Gaza Strip, according to Israeli media reports.
He was a platoon commander in the Kfir Brigade’s Shimshon Battalion from Meitar.
The occupation army has opened an investigation into the incident, which it described as an “operational accident.”
In Gaza, the Ministry of Health reported on Saturday that the death toll from the Israeli offensive has risen to 62,622, with 157,673 others wounded.
