Iraqi President: Trump did not ask for permission to watch Iran from Iraq

SANAA, Feb. 4 (YPA) – Iraqi President Barham Salih has  said on  Monday that US president Donald Trump had not asked for permission from Iraq for US troops on its territory to “monitor Iran.”

The move came in response to a question during a forum held in Baghdad about Trump’s remarks to CBS in which he said he would ask US troops in Iraq to “monitor” Iran.

The Iraqi president added that the US troops in his country are under an agreement between the two countries and with the specific task of combating terrorism, pointing out that the government will await clarification on the numbers and mission of US troops.

“The choice between Iraq and America is to cooperate, not to be different in handling some of the files,” Barham Salih said.
