Citizen brutally attacked by coalition militia in Ḥaḍramawt

SEIYUN, Jan. 27 (YPA) –A citizen has been assaulted and beaten on Sunday by ten soldiers of the so-called First Military Zone in Hadramawt province in eastern Yemen, local sources have reported to Yemen Press Agency.

According to the sources, the soldiers assaulted a citizen and beat him with rifle butts inside a popular qat market in Seiyun city. The soldiers were sons and relatives of the commander of the operations in the First Military Region, and attacked the citizen on the backdrop of popular rejection of the Islah party in Hadramawt.

The civilian was reportedly an opponent of the Islah party, a Salafist movement backed by Saudi Arabia, and may have been part of the UAE-backed resistance against Islah’s dominion over Hadramawt.

It is likely that the pro-Islah First Military Region assaulted the man for this reason.

The citizen would have died, if some people had not intervened and taken him to the hospital, according to sources.

Hadramawt province has been witnessing security chaos for nearly a year because of the attempts of the UAE occupation forces and the military units loyal to the Islah party to control the region, as well as the emergence of al-Qaeda terrorist activity.
