Yemen calls UN to lift coalition’s ban on agricultural fertilizers entry

SANAA, March 19 (YPA) – Foreign Ministry on Monday called on the United Nations Security Council to play their assumed role to cancel the recent decision of Saudi-led coalition and its pro-government authorities to ban the entry of agricultural fertilizers into Yemen.
This came in a letter sent by Foreign Minister Hisham Sharaf to the UN Secretary-General and President and members of the Security Council.
The letter affirmed that the ban, which is imposed on the local authorities at the Yemeni border ports, especially in the southern and eastern borders, will harm Yemeni farmers, who constitute more than 50% of the workforce in Yemen, and exacerbate the food crises caused by Saudi-led coalition war.
