Turkish relief delegation arrested in southern Yemen

ADEN, Dec. 22 (YPA) – Familiar sources with the issue of arresting a Turkish relief delegation by the United Arab Emirates occupation forces, which was inspecting the humanitarian situation in southern Yemen on Friday revealed new details.

According to sources who spoke to the New Gulf, an Emirati military force arrested the members of the Turkish delegation in Abyan province on Thursday night, without giving any reason why.

The sources noted that within hours, elements of the UAE elite forces, reinforced with armored vehicles, arrived to drive the Turkish delegation at dawn to Aden Hotel, and prevented them from leaving.

The UAE occupation force prevented members of the Turkish delegation to communicate with anyone by confiscating their communication equipment.

They also conducted investigations with members of the delegation representing Turkish humanitarian organizations, without disclosing their identities or the nature of the charges against them.

The Saudi-led invasion coalition forces have not made any comment on the incident yet, one of the sources said.

Last year, the UAE-backed security forces had prevented a number of ministers loyal to the Saudi coalition from receiving a Turkish relief ship and unloading its cargo at the port of Aden.

A Turkish relief delegation was also prevented from entering the port to oversee the unloading of a consignment of aid from a Turkish relief ship.

Media reports said that pro-UAE security forces deliberately insulted and humiliated Turkish employees on board, noting that port officials deliberately left food in the sun for more than two weeks to spoil.

Popular discontent is increasing in the cities of the southern province towards the UAE occupation forces, especially since the Emiratis have shown their contempt for Yemeni society, culture and people on numerous occasions.
