Italy arrests Tuensa seafarers Save migrants from drowning
SANAA, Sep. 8 (YPA) – Italian authorities arrested six Tunisians, including the captain, 25 miles south of the island of Lampedusa, near Italian territorial waters, after a number of migrants were about to drown.
Tunisian media reported that the captain of the Tunisian boat “Shamseddine Boracin” contacted with the Italian authorities and informed them of the existence of a vessel about to sink and that he would rescue it, then he drag the boat towards the island of Lampedusa.
The captain was then surprised when the Italian Coast Guard arrested him and the rest of his crew on charges of facilitating illegal immigration while the migrants were taken to a shelter in Lampedusa Island.
