140 of militiamen killed, 236 injured in Yemen’s western coast front
HODEIDAH, Aug. 18 (YPA) – At least 140 of Saudi-backed militiamen were killed and 236 injured when the Yemen Army repelled their attacks in Duraihimi district of Western coast front during the past 48 hours, a military official told Yemen Press Agency.
The army also destroyed more than 15 military vehicles in the same front, killing and injuring all their crews.
The militiamen tried to launch offensives and to infiltrate, backing with air cover, from three sites, but the army repelled them and inflicted the militiamen heavy losses in lives and equipment.
On Friday, the army killed over 40 militiamen and injured about 50, while on Saturday 100 of the militiamen were killed and 186 injured.
The official said that, 40 of the militiamen were killed by friendly airstrikes when they tried to escape from the clash on Saturday.
The official reiterated that the military operations in all fronts and in the Western Coast Front are conducted at a high pace and according to a specific military strategy of leadership and tactics.
