WASHINGTON, Oct. 18 (YPA) – US Republican Senator Rick Scott claimed that Ankara is acting aggressively towards Greece and southern Cyprus and is not behaving in accordance with its NATO membership.
He criticized Turkey over its disputes with Greece and Cyprus, announcing his support for the maritime electricity interconnection project between Greece, Cyprus and the Zionist occupation, and pledging to ensure that Ankara does not obstruct the project.
In statements to the Associated Press, Scott accused Ankara of “bullying,” arguing that its F-16 aircraft flying over the territory of other countries and its control over parts of them is inconsistent with the behavior of allies, without addressing Ankara’s point of view and its security concerns.
His remarks come amid renewed tensions over the submarine cable project, with Turkey insisting it must be consulted before any seabed surveys, amid ongoing disputes between Ankara and Athens over maritime borders and resource rights in the Aegean and Eastern Mediterranean, and Cyprus, which has been divided since 1974.
