Military unrest strikes Saudi-backed ‘Dera Al-Watan’ force following Marib, Jawf clashes

HADRAMOUT, Sept. 20 (YPA) – The Chief of Staff of the Saudi-backed 6th Brigade of the “Dera al-Watan” forces, Samir Bajrad, has tendered his resignation in protest against the deployment of Hadramout personnel to active fronts in Marib and Jawf against Sanaa forces.

According to informed local sources, Bajrad’s resignation on Saturday followed the deaths of more than 25 commanders and fighters on those frontlines. Sources indicated that Bajrad refused to send personnel from Hadramout to the Marib and Jawf battles, maintaining that the conflict does not represent the priorities or interests of Hadramout’s residents.

In response, the brigade commander, Omar Ju’ail (known as “Abu Al-Khattab”), suspended Bajrad, ordered an investigation into his actions, and appointed a replacement to manage the chief of staff duties.

The 6th Brigade of the “Dera al-Watan” forces was formed from residents of Hadramout valley and maintains its command headquarters in the Al-Qatn district.
