SOCOTRA, Sept. 20 (YPA) – An unprecedented wave of arrivals, comprising around 600 individuals loyal to the Islah party alongside their families, has reached the Socotra Archipelago Governorate under the pretext of “displacement,” amid local warnings regarding its motives and consequences.
A local source in the archipelago reported that these groups were dispatched from the Shihr port in Hadramout after departing Marib City in recent days. The source expressed surprise at their decision to risk the sea route to reach the island while bypassing neighboring governorates such as Shabwa, Mahrah, and Abyan.
The source considered the displacement operation to be merely a humanitarian cover to execute military moves and measures by the party within the archipelago.
These movements follow the expulsion of Islah-aligned authorities from Socotra in June 2020 by UAE-backed factions, coordinated at the time with Saudi forces (808), which withdrew from the vicinity of Hadibo City.
