Germany receives first F-35A fighter jet from Lockheed Martin

WASHINGTON, Sept. 19 (YPA) – Lockheed Martin announced the delivery of Germany’s first F-35A fighter jet during a ceremony in Texas, as part of a deal for 35 aircraft signed in 2022 to replace the aging Tornado fighter jets.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius described the aircraft as one of the most advanced in the world, highlighting its stealth capabilities, sensor systems and ability to integrate with other platforms.

The F-35 is a fifth-generation fighter jet, and the manufacturer says more than 1,350 of the aircraft are currently in operation worldwide.

Germany’s efforts to strengthen its air capabilities come amid increased European defense spending and US pressure on its allies to raise their military contributions.
