WASHINGTON, Sept. 11 (YPA) – More than 100 US military advisers are currently deployed in Saudi Arabia to provide intelligence and targeting assistance for ongoing military operations in Yemen, CNN reported, citing informed officials.
According to CNN, the US advisers are operating in Saudi Arabia as part of support for operations linked to the war in Yemen.
The advisers provide intelligence support to the Saudi side and help identify targets for military operations in Yemen.
The revelations have renewed debate over Washington’s role in the war in Yemen and the extent of its military and intelligence support for Riyadh. Previous reports have said the United States provided intelligence and assistance in identifying targets for the Saudi-led coalition during the war.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Yahya Sarie, spokesman for Sanaa’s Armed Forces, said Saudi warplanes had carried out 64 airstrikes on Taiz, Hodeidah, Marib and Jawf provinces over the past 24 hours.
Sarie said the strikes were carried out by F-15 and Typhoon fighter jets launched from King Fahd Air Base in Taif and King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait.
