Saudi fighter jets carry out 54 airstrikes on Yemen

SANAA, Sept. 09 (YPA) – The Saudi fighter jets intensified their airstrikes on Yemen on Wednesday, carrying out 54 raids so far across six provinces.

In a statement, Sanaa forces’ military spokesman Brig. Gen. Yahya Sarie said that Saudi warplanes had carried out 54 airstrikes over the past 12 hours, targeting the provinces of Jawf, Marib, Taiz, Hodeida, Saada and Bayda.

He clarified that the strikes were carried out by F-15SA fighter jets that took off from King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait.

The spokesman added that a Typhoon fighter jet operating from King Fahd Air Base in Taif also carried out an airstrike on Al-Jawf, stressing that the raids and Saudi aggression against Yemen would not go unanswered and would face a response and retaliation.

Earlier Wednesday, Brig. Gen. Sarie provided details on the Saudi airstrikes that targeted the Central Correctional Facility in Al-Hazm city of Jawf, on Monday, which killed 23 civilians, with the toll still potentially rising.

In a brief statement, Sarie said the Saudi regime’s attack on the Central Correctional Facility in Al-Hazm on Monday, September 7, 2026, killed a large number of inmates as well as several visitors, including women and children. He said an F-15SA fighter jet took off from King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait at 4:30 p.m., carried out two airstrikes on the prison, and returned to the same base at 4:45 p.m.

He stressed that the Saudi regime’s attempts to evade responsibility for its crimes and aggression against Yemen would not absolve it of the consequences of its actions, regardless of its efforts to conceal them.
