IRGC downs MQ-1 drone near Strait of Hormuz

TEHRAN, Oct. 29 (YPA)-Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) has announced the interception and destruction of an American MQ-1 drone over the eastern Strait of Hormuz, state news agency IRNA reported.

According to a statement published on the IRGC’s website on Thursday, the drone was brought down by the force’s Aerospace Division using an advanced air defense system operating under Iran’s integrated air defense network.

The statement said that it was the 14th advanced MQ-1 drone that was intercepted and destroyed.

As part of its defensive measures in response to the US-Israeli war of aggression against Iran, launched on February 28, the Islamic Republic has assumed control of the Strait of Hormuz and set regulations on maritime traffic through the waterway. Iran has repeatedly warned vessels against using routes it has not authorized.
