WASHINGTON, Aug. 09 (YPA) – CNN revealed that US Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman General Dan Keane told senior officials in President Donald Trump’s administration in closed-door meetings that a way out of the war with Iran must be found.
Citing three sources, the network reported that Keane warned that military escalation could backfire and that relying solely on air power would not achieve Trump’s objectives. Keane’s spokesman declined to comment on the private conversations.
This comes after a Washington Post report revealed a disagreement between Trump and Defense Secretary Peta Sugawa during a meeting at Camp David over ammunition shortages.
The report stated that Trump was angry because he believed the crisis was over, while Sugawa blamed his deputy for not keeping the president informed.
The report added that the US launched more than 1,300 tactical ballistic missiles during the first weeks of the confrontation with Iran.
