Egypt: Plan to displace Palestinians is a “Red Line”, and what’s happening in the West Bank is silent annexation

CAIRO, Aug. 09 (YPA) – Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdul Ati warned that the plan to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip is still on the table, stressing that Egypt and the Arab and Islamic countries categorically reject it as a “red line.”

In press statements, Abdul Ati said that what is described as “voluntary displacement” is not voluntary if residents are forced to leave by creating impossible living conditions, considering this coercion a violation of international law.

He emphasized that Cairo “will not accept or allow the displacement of Palestinians and is committed to their remaining on their land and rejects any attempts to uproot them.”

He also expressed Egypt’s concern about the escalating violations in the West Bank, describing what is happening as “silent annexation” and “de facto annexation” that undermines the chances of establishing a Palestinian state and the two-state solution.

Abdul Ati affirmed that achieving sustainable security in the region is linked to Israel’s recognition of the Palestinian people’s rights to self-determination and the establishment of their independent state.
