Saudi-led coalition faces deepening internal divisions amid widening factional rift

RIYADH, July 21 (YPA) –The Saudi-led coalition is facing mounting internal divisions as disputes and power struggles deepen among its allied factions in Yemen’s southern and eastern governorates, Political and media sources said

The assessment follows remarks by Amr Al-Baidh, a senior figure in the Southern Transitional Council (STC), who declared that the council is no longer part of the Saudi-led coalition or the Saudi-backed government.

Observers said the announcement delivers a major setback to the coalition’s already fragile legitimacy, signaling the collapse of the political understanding between the Saudi- and UAE-backed factions. They added the dispute has escalated from private disagreements to an open political split.

According to the sources, growing competition over influence, interests, and control of oil and mineral resources in the southern and eastern governorates has accelerated the coalition’s internal disintegration.

They added that the developments support Sanaa’s long-standing position that that the coalition was merely a cover for foreign control and the division of influence, and that its eventual fragmentation and collapse were inevitable.
