ISLAMABAD, July 09 (YPA) – Pakistan, which played a mediating role between the United States and Iran, urged both sides to de-escalate tensions and adhere to the terms of the memorandum of understanding signed between them to end the war in the Middle East, following renewed mutual escalation on Wednesday.
In a statement, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on all parties to fulfill their mutual commitments under the Islamabad memorandum of understanding and urged them to exercise “maximum restraint.”
The Pakistani call comes amid rising tensions between Washington and Tehran, following remarks by US President Donald Trump indicating the possibility of launching further strikes against Iran.
The US Central Command had announced strikes targeting sites inside Iran, while Tehran announced a military response targeting US positions in Bahrain and Kuwait, marking a new escalation in regional tensions.
