Russia carries out retaliatory strike on Kyiv

MOSCOW, July 02 (YPA) – The Russian Defense Ministry announced on Thursday that it had carried out a “massive retaliatory strike” targeting defense industry facilities and military airfield infrastructure in Kyiv and the Dnipropetrovsk, Poltava, Cherkasy, and Chernihiv regions.

The ministry said that the strike was carried out with long-range precision weapons from the air, land, and sea, and with attack drones, in response to Kyiv’s “terrorist attacks” on civilian infrastructure inside Russia.

Ukrainian authorities reported that eight people were killed in missile and drone attacks targeting Kyiv, with significant damage to a residential complex and fires breaking out in the city center and the Shevchenkivskyi district.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky cut short his visit to Dublin and returned to Kyiv after intelligence warnings of a “massive Russian attack.”
