TEHRAN, June 30 (YPA) – Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said on Tuesday that no meetings are scheduled between Iranian and U.S. officials in the coming days, denying reports that anticipated talks had been canceled and asserting that “this is the original version of events.”
Speaking at a press conference at the Foreign Ministry in Tehran, Baghaei said preparations are continuing for the funeral ceremony of what he referred to as the “martyred leader,” Sayyed Ali Khamenei, describing the event as significant for Iran and supporters around the world.
Baghaei said relations between Iran and Iraq remain strong, noting that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi’s visit to Baghdad was aimed in part at coordinating arrangements for the funeral. He praised Iraq’s position during the recent conflict, describing it as responsible and supportive of the Islamic Republic.
He added that there is broad interest in Iraq regarding the funeral ceremony, saying it would convey several messages, foremost among them the close ties between the Iranian and Iraqi peoples.
On regional issues, Baghaei stressed that Iran is fully aware of its responsibilities regarding the Strait of Hormuz and does not require outside involvement in managing the waterway.
He also reiterated Tehran’s position on Lebanon, calling on the United States to honor its commitments and ensure that Israel halts what Iran describes as ceasefire violations.
Addressing international relations, Baghaei accused NATO member states of supporting U.S. and Israeli military operations against Iran, arguing that such support violates international law. He added that attempts by some European countries to justify or distance themselves from those actions do not absolve them of responsibility.
