Iranian President: We will not back down on our rights in negotiations with Washington

TEHRAN, June 30 (YPA) – Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian affirmed on Tuesday that Tehran will not back down from its rights, interests, and national principles during negotiations with Washington under any circumstances, emphasizing his country’s adherence to its principles at every stage of the negotiations.

Pezeshkian stated via the “X” platform that all stages of the negotiations were conducted “in full coordination with Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, within the established mechanisms,” and under the supervision of the highest levels of leadership.

For his part, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Ismail Baghaei confirmed that Tehran’s current priority is “ensuring the implementation of the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding to end the war,” noting that Washington has issued the necessary permits for oil sales, and Tehran is following up on the implementation of the clause regarding the release of frozen assets.

He added that a delegation of Iranian experts will travel to Doha this week to follow up on the matter.

In turn, US President Donald Trump said on Monday that “Iran will not possess a nuclear weapon,” noting that Tehran has requested a meeting tomorrow in Doha.

On June 18, Tehran and Washington remotely signed a memorandum of understanding calling for a ceasefire on all fronts, including Lebanon, and a timetable for lifting the naval blockade and resuming navigation through the Strait of Hormuz.
