KHARTOUM, June 18 (YPA) – Sudanese survivors have submitted a legal memorandum to the Office of the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague, under Article 15 of the Rome Statute, requesting an investigation into senior UAE officials and business figures for allegedly financing and providing logistical support to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in the Darfur region.
The memorandum names Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President of the UAE, among the figures alleged to have maintained close ties with the paramilitary group.
The complainants requested prosecutors to examine the legal liability of these intermediaries and foreign backers under Articles 25(3)(c) and 25(3)(d) of the Rome Statute, on charges of aiding, abetting, or otherwise contributing knowingly to these crimes.
The submission relies on international investigations and reports indicating that weapons and equipment reached the RSF via an airlift through Amdjarass in Chad, a New York Times investigation indicating to UAE arms smuggling under the guise of humanitarian aid, and a Human Rights Watch report regarding Colombian mercenaries passing through UAE military bases before deployment to Sudan.
The victims are demanding that the court prosecute all those who supported, funded, or facilitated the violations, rather than limiting accountability to the direct perpetrators.
