TEHRAN, June 17 (YPA) – Iran’s Parliament Speaker and Special Envoy for China Affairs, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, revealed on Wednesday the outlines of a new regional alliance led by Tehran and Beijing that could reshape economic balances in the region.
According to Iran’s official news agency, Ghalibaf said during a consultative meeting with the Iranian Chamber of Commerce that any emerging regional alliance would include both Iran and China, stressing that progress is being made strongly in this direction.
He emphasized: “We must be true partners with China, and we must relieve the people from the burden of economic pressure.”
Ghalibaf added that China holds a special position for Iran, and that China should also recognize that Iran is not merely a customer or a trade partner, but a genuine partner in the full sense of the word.
Citing Tasnim News Agency, he called on business leaders and the private sector to present their views and proposals to assist in decision-making, stressing that he is keen to listen to different perspectives before taking decisions, while also acting decisively when necessary.
He explained that his role focuses on removing obstacles and facilitating procedures for economic actors, noting that he does not seek to interfere in operational details or impose specific directions on investors, but rather to create a more supportive and flexible environment for economic and commercial activity.
Tasnim reported that the consultative meeting was attended by a large number of economic actors to discuss ways to strengthen sustainable economic cooperation between Tehran and Beijing.
It added that this was the second such meeting held by Ghalibaf within two weeks to follow up on Iran–China relations, following a previous meeting between government economic ministers and Iran’s special envoy to China.
