PYONGYANG, June 07 (YPA) – North Korea condemned Washington’s approval of the sale of guided munitions to South Korea, calling it part of a “supposed defensive strategy” to enhance Seoul’s offensive capabilities under the pretext of containing Pyongyang.
The Korean Central News Agency quoted a Defense Ministry official as saying that the US supply of its allies in Asia, by land, sea, and air, is aggressive in nature and will increase tensions on the peninsula.
According to the statement, the deal included 708 KMU-557 and 58 KMU-572 guidance structures worth $106 million.
It noted that Washington continues to prepare to supply Seoul, Taiwan, and Tokyo with long-range systems and military aircraft
The official warned that irresponsible US arms sales are a major cause of escalating instability, stressing that his country will continue to enhance its capabilities and take comprehensive, symmetrical and asymmetrical technical and military measures to strengthen deterrence.
