Hebrew sources: Global strike by port workers on Friday to stop arms shipments to Israeli occupation
OCCUPIED AL-QUDS, Oct. 22 (YPA) – Hebrew sources revealed preparations for an international day of action by port workers’ unions tomorrow, Friday, under the slogan “Port workers do not work for war,” to pressure the Israeli occupation and stop the transfer of weapons and goods related to its war on the Palestinians.
According to a report by the National Authority for Diaspora Affairs, strikes and demonstrations are expected to be organized in 17 countries and about 100 ports to disrupt supply chains heading to Israel and pressure shipping companies.
The initiative is being led by the “Ports in Action” coalition, in parallel with the “No Port for Genocide” campaign, which is supported by groups boycotting Israel (BDS).
The countries include Italy, France, Greece, Spain, India, Sweden, Portugal, Turkey, and Morocco. Italy and Greece are leading the actions with a 24-hour strike at the port of Piraeus and other major Italian ports, demanding a halt to the transfer of weapons and ammunition and a refusal to participate in trade linked to the Israeli war effort.
